Press ReleasesEB Strengthens Its Connection in The Russian Market

Elite Boxing has strengthened its position in the Russian combat sports market after announcing an agreement to stream Tatneft Cup events live on its EB-TV platform. The partnership is the third such agreement between EB and a Russian combat sports organization.

The first Tatneft Cup event to be streamed on EB-TV will be the 2014 semi-finals this Friday, July 18. EB has agreed to offer this event to fight fans free of charge as a special introductory offer in a move which is likely to give the brand worldwide exposure.

Although widely regarded by dedicated combat sports fans as a premium quality event and one of the main kickboxing tournaments in Eastern Europe, the Tatneft Cup has failed to gain widespread international recognition. The Tatneft Cup is already established as a major showcase for Eastern Europe’s top kickboxing talent and has launched the careers of fighters such as Artem Levin, Ismael Londt, Sergei Lascenko, and Dzhabar Askerov. It is hoped that the partnership with EB will help establish the Tatneft Cup in the global marketplace.

Held every year in Kazan, Russia, the Tatneft Cup is a kickboxing tournament with its own rules derived from muaythai, kickboxing and kyokushin. The 4-round bouts can be won by knock-out, by knock-down, or by judges’ decision.

Each championship features 48 fighters competing in three weight classes: Under 70 kg, Under 80 kg, and 80+ kg. The tournament is split into four first round events, two quarterfinals events, one semifinals event, and the finals.
