Press ReleasesEvolution Doesn't forget Its Roots

Having recently re-launched Evolution as a global brand at a successful international event in Malaysia, Elite Boxing has announced its plans for the future of Evolution, which include bringing the popular muaythai event brand back to its roots in Australia. To help achieve this, EB has established a partnership with Mark the Hammer, who will be the official face of Evolution in Australia.

The partnership makes sense for all concerned as Mark is no stranger to Evolution. A close friend of Evolution co-founder Nugget McNaught, Mark saw the brand’s potential right from the beginning. Having recently attended and commentated on the Evolution 27 event in Malaysia, Mark also stressed his desire to see the brand return to Australia in the near future. With the establishment of the partnership with EB, it appears that he will get his wish.

Since acquiring the rights to Evolution in 2013, EB has followed its strategy of building on the brand’s popularity in Australia to create a global brand. The first step in achieving this was recently realized when Evolution 27 became the first ever event under the brand to be held outside of Australia. As Evolution’s official representative in Australia, Mark has already brokered a deal for highlights from this groundbreaking event to be shown on Fox Sports in Australia. The broadcast date is yet to be confirmed but is expected to be within the next 2 to 3 months.

While EB had no immediate plans to stage an Evolution event in Australia, the company has always made it clear that it is happy to take the best upcoming talent from Australia and develop them for the international stage through Evolution.

However, EB has now agreed to work more closely with Mark, who will be responsible for reintroducing Evolution into the Australian market. In the first stage, Mark will stage Evolution Qualifiers in Australia with the winner of the event earning a place in the next Evolution global event. The first of these 4-man qualifiers is already scheduled to be integrated into the Warriors Way event due to take place in Melbourne in August. The winner will compete in Evolution 28 in Malaysia in 2015.

Speaking about the partnership, EB’s co-founder, Toli Makris, expressed his delight that Evolution would be returning to its Australian roots. “We’re very happy to be working with Mark and look forward to seeing Evolution returning to its home in Australia,” said Makris. Makris also indicated that there may be plans to hold another Evolution event in Australia again in the coming years, but confirmed that the immediate future would see only Evolution Qualifiers held in Australia.

Any Australian fighters or promoters who are interested in being part of Evolution’s global future, are advised to contact Mark the Hammer who is the official Evolution representative in Australia.
