Press ReleasesTHAILAND VS ASIA: Why Malaysia now truly is Asia

Most people are familiar by now with the catchy slogan of Malaysia’s tourism board. But now Malaysia truly is a microcosm of Asia as the multi-cultural country prepares to represent the most populace continent on earth when the Thailand VS Asia muaythai event comes to town as part of the TVC 2012 Series.
Thailand VS Asia is scheduled to take place on October 9 in the luxurious Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre just outside Kuala Lumpur and it was at this same venue that members of the press gathered to hear official confirmation of the event yesterday.
The event is co-promoted by Bangkok-based Elite Boxing and its local subsidiary EB Malaysia. During the press conference, EB co-founder and promoter Toli Makris spoke of his delight at bringing TVC to Malaysia, which he described as being a country that is passionate about muaythai.
Head of EB Malaysia, Alex Phang, expressed his delight at seeing the event come to fruition after all the hard work that he and his team have done in preparing the ground for the event to take place.
The press conference was also attended by head of EB’s German subsidiary, Serdar Karaca, who is currently preparing for a fight in Thailand and who took the opportunity to remind everyone that the next event in the TVC 2012 Series will be Thailand VS Europe in Ulm, Germany on November 3.
Also as chairman of the press conference was WMC Vice President, Stephan Fox, who is heavily involved with the international development of muaythai, and Dato’ Muhd Shahnaz Azmi, head of the Muaythai Federation of Malaysia. Dato’ Shah has been very active in ensuring that TVC came to Malaysia for the first time. His dedicated support opened many doors for EB and he has also been involved in the matchmaking to ensure that fans are treated to a night of high-quality muaythai and gripping entertainment.
Representing the Malaysian government, Mr Musa Yusof spoke of his delight for Malaysia at having the honor of representing Asia. Venue hosts Sunway Resort Hotel & SPA were also represented at the press conference. Mr John Autelitano told the gathered press what an honor it was for Sunway Resort Hotel & SPA to be hosting a major international sporting event and he hoped it could become a regular event.
Finally, the press was treated to a series of muaythai demonstrations. Australian muaythai legend Nugget is already well known in Malaysia having been one of the trainers during the recent Challenger Muaythai reality TV show, which was filmed in Kuala Lumpur. Nugget treated the crowd to a demonstration of defensive moves and the role that muaythai can play in self-defense.
With the press conference now concluded, it is time to begin the countdown to Thailand VS Asia at the Sunway Resort Convention Centre just outside Kuala Lumpur on October 9.
